Help 2 - Your guide doesn't work for me

If you've had PHP or Apache installed on your PC before (perhaps from a free PHP IDE, or a 3rd party WAMP package) then you need to be sure your PC is clean of any previous settings. Ensure that there isn't a php.ini file, or a php4ts.dll or a php5ts.dll inside your Windows folder (or any folder there-of). Run a full search on your hard drive for those files, and if found, consider removing them.

If you have another web server installed (such as IIS) that is running on Port 80 then you'll need to reconfigure Apache to use a different port number. Or disable the other web server totally. Details are in the httpd.conf file on how to do this.

If PHP 5 works but PHP 4 doesn't, you should carefully revisit Step 8 in this guide about installing the Apache2 Handler, manifest file and Visual Studio runtimes.
